Join Us for our Chris Kline Memorial Game on Saturday, August 17, 2024 at 6pm as the Trenton Thunder vs Frederick Keys. Addiction Awareness Night Exhibit begins at 4:30pm.
Chris Kline was an accomplished pitcher, but an even better catcher when he played with City of Angels. A lifelong baseball standout, he was the starting catcher for Notre Dame High School and played on both their 2013 and 2015 Mercer County Championship teams. Chris joined the Angels for the 2016 baseball season as we built the team for its eventual 2018 Championship. Due to his youthfulness, he became known as “Baby Chris”, though he commanded the respect of the senior players because of his leadership behind the plate. Chris earned a full-ride to Lehigh University after graduating high school. Tragically, Chris suffered from mental illness compounded by substance use disorder which eventually claimed his life on June 12, 2021. The Christopher Kline Memorial Game and Annual Addiction Awareness Night at the Trenton Thunder are held in Chris’ memory. Tickets are on sale now for $11.

COA Angels Baseball:
The COA Angels baseball team competes in the South Jersey Mens Senior Baseball League in the 21+ North Division. The Angels currently training for the 2024 season and in 2018 won the NJABL Amateur Championship having compiled an undefeated 20-0-2 record that year. The Angels are the brainchild of friends Jon Di Lisa, a Marine who served in Iraq and Afghanistan, and Jon Macciocca, a high school baseball standout in his own right. The two friends, who are persons in long-term recovery, asked City of Angels to sponsor the team and to fulfill their ultimate dream to play baseball once again. The Angels inaugural season was in 2014. Today, the Angels Captains are Xavier Rodrigues and Cole McManimon. . If you take notice of the Angels team jerseys…they were presented to the team in 2014 by MLB’s Los Angeles Angels and were actual team jerseys worn in Los Angeles’ 2011, 50th Anniversary season. Overcoming adversity is a constant for the Angel’s team, as they dealt with the tragic deaths of their first pitcher Sage Ferraro, 3rd baseman Brian Low, catcher Chris Kline, former player Anthony Corson and in August 2023, volunteer Megan McNellis, from a rare infection. The Angels partner with the Trenton Thunder to present Addiction Awareness Night coming on August 17, 2024 and their Annual Sage Ferraro Memorial Game, being played Saturday, May 18, 2024 at Trenton Thunder BallPark.
